Until recently, I always had this rather poor opinion of still life paintings. Then all of a sudden, I absolutely fell in love with painting still lifes, especially fruit!

I always admired this stunning silver pitcher in my house. I was intimidated to try and capture all that shine and the reflections, but I decided to be brave and give it a go.

The silver, the tomatoes, and that adorable but expensive blue bowl are subjects I've never painted before. I was really happy with the expressiveness of my looser brushstrokes and the darker background that allows my subjects to really pop.

This still life has a beautiful classical feeling to it that I'm very proud of.

Those tomatoes look too good to cut up into little pieces for a salad, which is where they eventually ended up, but not before I took the perfect photo and immortalised them in my art
