The creation of "The Swallows" was an extraordinary experience for me.

After I had put some lovely texture on the canvas and let it dry, I stared at the canvas and waited to see what ideas would come to me.

I suddenly saw in the texture one head and a wing of what I could clearly see was a swallow, the first swallow you see in the painting.

I've never painted swallows before, but I found them such a delicate and shapely bird, so I then decided to give the first swallow some company and have them appear to be diving into a pond below.

When I researched the spiritual meaning that swallows represent, I learned that they are signs of good luck, hope, grace, and divine/spiritual guidance.

Considering I was inspired to paint three swallows, I would say that these swallows are a sign of guidance from the Holy Trinity.
